Renewable energy in Bangladesh is still in its early stages of development, but it has the potential to play a major role in the country's energy mix in the future. Bangladesh has abundant renewable energy resources, including solar, wind, and biomass.
The government of Bangladesh has set ambitious targets for renewable energy development. In its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to the Paris Agreement, Bangladesh has pledged to increase the share of renewable energy in its energy mix to 40% by 2041.
Moreover, the development of renewable energy in Bangladesh is making progress. The installed capacity of renewable energy in Bangladesh has increased from 10 MW in 2010 to over 950 MW in 2023.
